No need to feel silly, I'm so humbled and flattered by your words. They mean so much to me. Yes, Mr. Brooks was very happy with my work, but, I can tell you he is an amazing director and at my age somewhat complicated to understand at times. He used many metaphors to explain the feelings he wanted portrayed, which made it very difficult for even the adults to understand. Short, but, funny and true story about that. Cloris Leachman (Evelyn) after about an hour or so of shooting and hearing the explanation from Mr. Brooks of what he wanted her to feel, stopped him and abruptly told him, "English Jim, I don't understand what you are saying, English, please". LOL!!! Of course everyone on set broke into laughter of how frustrated she was and even he laughed with all of us. So he told her, "Cloris, can you come to set on the days you are not scheduled, to put us in a good mood?" her response to him was. "You are not paying me enough Jim" and again the laughter continued. So, you can imagine what we all where going through, if even Mrs. Leachmen could not grasp what Mr. Brooks was trying to convey to us. I just thought it was incredible that he had that kind of faith in me when other couldn't understand. Hehehe... I loved every bit of it. Another small story. He knew I hated the words "It's a wrap for Shelbie for today" so he would warn everyone to pay attention and he would say it even louder to get a bigger reaction out of me, just because he loved to hear "Nooooooooo... it's not a wrap for me... I want to continue acting" he would get a kick out of it, I later on learned. Funny Hu!!!! Sorry if I'm writing too much,but, you give me the feeling that you would appreciate stories like that.
